Costa Rica Volcan Azul placed 4th in the 2024 Cup of Excellence competition.
This coffee comes from a family-run farm operated by Alejo Castro Kahle, together with his father Fernando Castro Jimenez and his mother Vivian Kahle. Both sides of the family have been involved in Costa Rica’s coffee industry since the 19th century, and for the past 15 years, they have been managing the Volcan Azul micro mill together.
The family’s farm, “F.C.J. Volcan Azul,” is located on the slopes of the Poás Volcano in Costa Rica. Today, production begins with coffee trees planted at an altitude of around 1,500 meters above sea level (SHB), in highly fertile volcanic soil. The process continues meticulously at the micro mill and concludes with the careful preparation of export-quality green coffee beans.
