The farm is a family-run coffee estate operated by Alejo Castro Kahle, together with his father Fernando Castro Jimenez and his mother Vivian Kahle. Both sides of the family have been involved in Costa Rica’s coffee industry since the 19th century, and for the past 15 years, they have been managing the Volcan Azul micro mill together.
The family’s F.C.J. Volcan Azul farm is located on the slopes of the Poás Volcano in Costa Rica. The production process begins with coffee trees planted at an altitude of approximately 1,500 meters above sea level (SHB), in highly fertile volcanic soil. The harvested coffee is then carefully processed at the micro mill, and the process concludes with the meticulous preparation of export-quality green coffee beans.
